Lumberton, NC Disaster Rebuilding Week 5 Nov 9, 2018

We have been experiencing glorious fall weather here in Lumberton.  We are very thankful for the great working weather especially when we think back to the hot summer when we were here in 2017.  This week we had to say good bye to Reid and Bill and Cheryl but got to say hello to Mike and Lee, Joanne, and Bruce and Cindy.

Sunday the team attended worship at Chestnut Street UMC where they were celebrating All Saints Sunday and then went out to dinner where everyone began getting to know one another.  Of course, with NOMADS there are never any strangers.

Monday morning, Susan, Mike and Dave headed back to Cheryl’s to do a few punch list items such as some exterior window trim touch-up, a threshold installation, some bathroom trim installation and general final cleanup at the job site.  The rest of the team headed back to Jackie’s to get stared.  This week there was lots of painting done.  Just about all the walls, ceilings, and closets are now complete.  We are still working on trim.  All the window trim and baseboard is now installed and a great deal is painted.  There is still crown molding to install.  The kitchen cabinets were delivered mid week and the installation has begun. We had rain this week so the porch scraping and painting has not yet been done.

We also started another home this week, Jim and Mary’s home.  This sweet couple live further out of Lumberton, in the country in a double wide.  Our tasks here include tearing out and rebuilding a bathroom, as well as some painting and a few other small items.  A new roof has already been installed.    Max, Bruce, Lee and Mike started the demolition Wednesday.  They made great progress and were pleased to find the floor joists in good shape.  We plan to begin installing the new sub-flooring Monday.  After a busy week, the team enjoyed a wonderful meal at Pier 41 Thursday evening and are thankful for another week of being His servants rebuilding Lumberton.   For more details and pictures check out our blog at www.RvingWithaPurpose.com.
