On October 1st, signups will open for two Disaster Rebuilds in 2013. In Minot, ND, NOMADS will be on site assisting with rebuilding after June 2011 flooding destroyed or damaged almost 5,000 homes, churches and other buildings there. Full details are in the member's area under Disaster Rebuilding. This project will begin April 22nd, and will run for 19 weeks, through August 29th. Many projects into 2013 have already been scheduled and are ready for NOMADS signups. Projects are added every week. NOMADS, please login to the Member's Area and use the project signup software to view all the opportunities to serve. Contact the NOMADS office if you need assistance.
Many NOMADS are signing up a bit earlier this year for our Winter-Spring (Jan-May) projects, thanks to our new signup software. We'll continue to add more projects, as we receive them from agencies, until we arrive at a number that we believe we can adequately "staff", and to a level that compares with recent winter schedules for us. NOMADS, please login regularly to see what's new on our project schedule in 2013, and please help out wherever you can.
Your DR Committee has been very active this year in responding to requests for help from various areas of the country. They now have scheduled three separate project locations for the Fall 2012 months. However, these projects can't succeed without the active support of members to staff them. All three projects still have openings in most weeks, but Bastrop, TX, is especially short of help. Disaster Rebuilding Update: Praise God that leaders for all the weeks at Bastrop, Tx, Haleyville and Cordova, Al have been identified and individuals have been signing up to work. At all three locations, at least 2 weeks are already full for the fall and winter. But there are still a number of slots for workers are still open.
