Types of NOMADS Events

In addition to NOMADS projects, there are numerous NOMADS opportunities throughout the year.  These are all listed on our CALENDAR, so please have a look there too.  Some examples are:

Annual Meeting.  This is our largest opportunity to get together with NOMADS friends and make new ones!  Each year, up to 350 members attend the 5-day event.  The location rotates each year.  In September 2011 it was held in Forest City, IA at the Winnebago/Itasca River Oaks Rallygrounds.  The annual meeting includes business meetings, educational seminars, leader training, concerts, tours in the local area and invited speakers.  The silent and live auctions are favorite events with our own NOMAD Wayne Mahan, who is a professional auctioneer!  There are plenty of opportunities to meet NOMADS and reconnect with those NOMADS you may already know.  Brand new NOMADS have regularly reported they had just as good a time at Annual Meeting as NOMADS who are long term members!  Applications to attend the Annual Meeting are available in the Member's section of the web page several months before the event each year.  In 2012, the Northeast Jurisdiction will again host our annual meeting, in Hamburg, New York at the Fairgrounds. The dates are September 24-28, 2012.  Please visit our CALENDAR (see left column of options) for more information.   

Local, State, or Regional  Reunions.  Some states or regions have annual get-togethers.  The format for these is typically a combination of social events and a work project at a NOMADS agency within the area.  These events are advertised in the NOMADS weekly email updates and in the calendar area of the web page.

AZ, TX, and FL Reunions.  During our winter project season when many NOMADS are working projects, there is usually a luncheon get-together for all NOMADS working in the area.  These events are advertised in the NOMADS weekly email updates, in the calendar area and via news articles on the home page.
