Oklahoma DR Team Weekly Report Mar 24th
Elmore City Disaster Rebuild March 18-24, 2017
As the team gathered in Elmore City on Saturday March 18, we added 2 more RV’s to the team with Chris and Susan and then Bruce and Janette arriving to join this week’s team, bringing us to 10 NOMADS. With the opening of a second work site we split our team into two groups and the weather moved from freezing to hot as the temperatures moved into the high 80’s.
This week on Mr. Stevens’ house the kitchen cabinets were installed, the shower was put into the bath and most of the painting was completed. The upstairs bath was finished and the water turned back on for the upstairs bath and the kitchen sink. The outside of the house was painted where NOMADS had fixed it up. Lights were installed in all rooms.
The other home we started on this week was Ms. Dye’s; she had 2 rooms damaged from the flooding. There had already been another team of volunteers hang the drywall in one room. Our team taped, mudded and textured the room and then painted it. The laminate flooring was installed in the room on Thursday. The second room they did a 4 foot tear-out on the walls, nstalled new insulation and hung the drywall before taping and mudding.
Our plan for next week is to finish both homes here in Maysville and the next set of teams with Gary and Sharon Hatcher will be moving to Lawton for the project there.
